Human beings are not like any other animals in the world. All animals other than humans can only live and survive in their natural environment.
We as humans are never totally comfortable in any environment. Why is that?
Well, it is because God blessed us with six higher faculties which allow us to adapt and create our own comfortable environment wherever we are.
What are those higher faculties, you say?
Imagination
Perception
Reason
Memory
Will
Intuition
I will explain each of these briefly below and in future blogs
we will go deeper into each of these and learn how we can intentionally use these faculties instead of just randomly using them by default.
When they are intentionally used, they allow us to develop and become our best self which is what God wants us to be.
Perception
The Gateway to Understanding Our ability to perceive and interpret the world around us is fundamental to our existence. Perception allows us to gather sensory information, process it, and construct a coherent reality. According to recent studies, approximately 80% of our learning occurs through visual perception alone. This staggering statistic emphasizes the vital role perception plays in our lives.
Reason
The Beacon of Logic Reason serves as the guiding force behind our decision-making and problem-solving abilities. It enables us to analyze information, draw conclusions, and think critically. Surprisingly, research suggests that only 10% of people use critical thinking skills effectively. This reveals the need for fostering and honing our rational faculties to enhance our decision-making processes.
Will
Harnessing the Power of Determination, The faculty of will empowers us to set goals, pursue dreams, and overcome obstacles. Willpower is not only essential for personal growth but also impacts various areas of our lives, such as health, career success, and relationships. Astonishingly, studies show that individuals with high levels of self-control are more likely to have better physical and mental health outcomes. Developing and nurturing our will can lead to remarkable achievements.
Imagination
Unleashing Creativity and Innovation Imagination kindles our creativity and fuels our ability to conceive new ideas, solve problems, and envision a better future. It is an integral part of human ingenuity and progress. Research indicates that individuals who engage in imaginative thinking have higher levels of job satisfaction and overall well-being. Embracing and nurturing our imagination can unlock endless possibilities.
Intuition
The Silent Wisdom Within Intuition, often considered a mysterious faculty, offers insights beyond reason and logic. It is a deep understanding that arises without conscious reasoning. While it may seem elusive, intuition plays a significant role in decision-making. Surprisingly, studies suggest that intuitive decisions are correct 90% of the time. Cultivating trust in our intuition can lead to more confident choices.
Memory
The Keeper of Our Experiences Our memory connects us to our past, shapes our present, and influences our future. It allows us to learn, retain information, and recall experiences. Recent research indicates that regular exercise improves memory and cognitive function, reducing the risk of memory-related disorders. Preserving and enhancing our memory can enrich our lives and maintain cognitive vitality.
Conclusion
Our higher faculties of perception, reason, will, imagination, intuition, and memory are remarkable gifts that define our humanity. They shape our understanding of the world, enable us to make informed decisions, and spark creativity and innovation. By recognizing the significance of these faculties, nurturing them, and leveraging their power, we can tap into our full potential as human beings. Let us embrace these higher faculties and embark on a journey of self-discovery, growth, and fulfillment.
